

An experienced Australian physiotherapist will be giving individual assessments on how well your child is developing their motor skills. This Paediatric Motor Skills developmental screening is targeted at monitoring your child’s physical abilities, providing clinical advice to improve certain coordination and physical skills and detection of neurological illnesses/deficits or delayed developmental control..
Ages 0-2 years
Your child will be assessed on:
- Loss of primitive reflexes
- Gross motor control, e.g. reaching for something, rolling, crawling, learning to sit, to transit from sitting to crawling and to progress to walking
- Neurological deficits, e.g. Cerebral Palsy
- Postural reactions
- Fine motor skills, e.g. learning to grasp or pinch
- Sensory motor, e.g. reaction to sensory stimulus
Ages 2-6 years
Your child will be assessed on:
- Gross motor skills – e.g. walking, running, stair climbing
- Coordination skills- e.g. hopping, throwing, catching and kicking
- Fine motor skills- hand grip to hold pen and different shaped objects
- Social skills- how well they interact with other children
- Neurological deficits
- Sensory motor
- Postural reactions
Any neurological or life threatening conditions detected through the screening process will then be referred to the appropriate specialist.
